Week 15 and 16

We're bumping out! The past 2 weeks we have really noticed a bigger belly, and if my phone ever decides to work, I'll post a picture. I had my 16 week appt on Wednesday and was very disappointed that we did not have the ultrasound. We do have it scheduled, and will be finding out January 16th!! So far, I have only gained 4lbs. I found a new, interesting way to compare the size of the baby, and this week it hit, right on! At 16 weeks, the baby is the size of a Blackberry, and if you know Chris, he never puts his down, so it was nice to seen that he actually compared the size. Baby P is about 4.6 inches long, and 3.5 ounces.

I have been feeling incredible the past couple of weeks, no heartburn, limited back pain, it's been great! I do have a new 'symptom' but it is far too hilarious to post on here. Chris thinks it is the funniest thing ever!

Christmas still isn't completely over around here, but what we have had so far... it's been amazing! So far the baby has got ADIDAS booties, a blankie, basketball gloves, and a swing(from Aunt Marina and Uncle Tim):

I am looking forward to a lot this week: feeling the baby move, seeing my family for Christmas, and counting down the days until the gender ultrasound!!

**As soon as my phone is working, I'll post a bump pic!

14 weeks and time to start belly pictures!

Baby's now the size of a lemon!

Your adorable little fetus is busy with thumb sucking, toe wiggling, (not so cute but equally amazing) making urine, and breathing amniotic fluid as the liver, kidneys, and spleen continue to develop. Lanugo (thin, downy hair) is growing all over her body for warmth.

We are now in the 14th week!! Everything is going great (minus some nights of heartburn).

God was watching over us last Thursday night (12/8) when Chris and I got into a car accident. We were driving home from a D-League basketball game and decided to take the "back road" instead of the highway. We were about 15 miles from the house when an ambulance passed us going the opposite direction, so we slowed down and pulled to the side. Not a half mile later, we saw more flashing lights on the other side of a little hill. We started to slow down and pulled to the side, and that's when we hit the black ice. The ice pulled the explorer into the other lane and onto a grassy area. To put the location in perspective, we were on an upper road, with a lower road to the left of us. We weren't slowing down after hitting the grass and went airborne, over a cop car who was there for a different accident. We landed on the other side of the lower road and went head on into a tree. Luckily, while we were mid air I pulled my legs up to protect the baby, instinctively. God was really watching over us, because after all of that, we were still OK. I had to be transferred to the hospital via ambulance, all strapped in with a neck brace, as well. We got to the E.R. and they immediately did an ultrasound and saw that the baby was doing great. I then had to go in for X-Rays of my leg, they thought I had broke tibia/fibula, but it turns out that it was a deep bone bruise. Chris got hit with the air bag and had a few scrapes and cuts, but nothing too serious. We were ridiculously sore for the next few days, but are feeling much better.

Week 13

We are officially out of the 1st trimester!!!

Baby P is about the size of a peach, but looks so much bigger! I got to see Baby P on Friday morning, he/she looks so big! I was able to see 2 arms, 2 (long) legs, 2 sides of the brain, and the cute little face! We have a mover and a shaker for sure. Throughout the entire ultrasound, the little one would not sit still! He/she was flipping and jumping the entire time. The heart beat was at 158, which is staying right with the old wives tale... 140+ is a girl, but Chris swears he saw something that says otherwise!

Once I fix my computer, I will be sure to upload the ultrasound pictures!

Week 12

Well, little one and I have 2 appointments this week, one was Monday, and the big one is Friday.

Monday was just a normal check up, but I got to hear the heart beat! I was in love! Baby P is going strong at 166bpm. Now I have been checking out the old wives tales and one states that if a heartbeat is under 140, it's a boy, above 140, a girl! Chris thinks it's a boy still, but I have the winning team because more people think it is a girl (Me, Mom, Gramma Betty, and Gramma Gee Gee). Baby P is the size of a plum this week. We are at the end of our first trimester!!!

Friday, I have to make the trip into Hartford, about 40 minutes away, at 8 am. Luckily, it was only early in the pregnancy that I was craving more and more sleep. Lately I have been up around 7:30am. Anyway... Friday is my First Trimester Screening. They will do an ultrasound and check the nuchal translucency, or fluid behind the neck. This is a primary screening for birth defects. Like I said last week, this ill not change the view of this pregnancy for us, we would just like to know. The best part of the appointment... I finally get to take home the first picture of our baby!

Recap of the last few weeks.

I think it has been.. what? 3 weeks since I posted? Clearly, I have been slacking. Before I get into the baby portion.. of the baby blog, I just read an amazing post by Kristen. This is really hitting home with me because of some issues between C and I.

Anyway... baby.
Baby is good.
Baby has given me heartburn, cramps, and extreme round ligament pain, in this past week alone.

We are 11 weeks today! I still have had no morning sickness (still knocking on wood whenever I say that) and feeling pretty good, overall.

Baby P is the size of a lime this week! He/she no longer has webbed fingers or toes and has a 1:1 body to head size ratio. Baby P is forming hair follicles (according to my Mom, that's why I have the heartburn), tooth buds, and nail beds. The best part of week 11, baby P is finally moving. Even though I can't feel it yet, they are apparently doing plenty of moving.

I go in for another ultrasound on Monday and a general checkup. Then next Friday is the big ultrasound. No.. not the gender ultrasound yet, but Friday we will be able to get our first pictures! I have to go to Hartford Hospital for this u/s because they are going to be screening for birth defects. Not that it matters, but we would like to know.

Well, 9:15 the night before Thanksgiving and I haven't even started my pumpkin roll yet... Should probably get on that.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! And a year from now, you will be seeing a cute little munchkin with a gobble gobble shirt, for sure!!

First Appointment

Our first appointment is this Friday, itty-bitty! So far, we have only been going off of our own calculations so we can't wait to see what the Dr. says. Daddy is able to go to this appointment and we're crossing our fingers that we will be able to get a sneak peak from an ultrasound. We aren't set on a Dr. yet, but hopefully this one will be successful.

We love you.

*This isn't you just yet.. Momma is bloated

Dear Baby P,

Your daddy and I found out about you a week ago and we could honestly not be more excited and happy. There are only 3 people who know about you right now and we are going to keep it that way for just a little longer. I know your grandparents will love you almost as quickly as we have fallen for you, your aunts, uncles, and numerous cousins too. I've heard it said that once a parent holds their baby in their arms, the amount of love that swells in their hearts is overwhelming. It's something, I've been told, that we can't imagine it until we experience it. For us, it's not that hard to believe. Though we haven't met, we love you already. I know that our love for you can only grow from here.

Love,
Momma & Daddy
